Methanol, also known as hydroxymethane, is an organic compound and the simplest saturated monohydric alcohol. Its chemical formula is CH3OH/CH4O, in which CH3OH is a simple structural formula that can highlight the hydroxyl group of methanol. The CAS number is 67-56-1. The molecular weight is 32.04, and the boiling point is 64.7°C. Because it was first discovered in retorted wood, it is also called "wood alcohol" or "wood essence". The lowest dose of human oral poisoning is about 100mg/kg body weight, and oral intake of 0.3-1g/kg can be fatal. Used in the manufacture of formaldehyde and pesticides, etc., and used as an extractant for organic matter and a denaturant for alcohol.
